How long will the balm keep for?
This body balm is in optimum (best) condition for up to two years after it is made. However, because of the preserving nature of the honey and beeswax, it will last indefinitely. (Be sure to use clean fingers when scooping out the balm, because introduced bacteria can ruin it.) Because I only make small batches of the balm, the balm that you purchase will probably only be a few weeks old, months at the most.
What kind of soap should I use?
With very sensitive, eczema prone skin, there is nothing wrong with just washing with plain warm water.
A very natural alternative to soap is a handful of cooking oats wrapped in a square of muslin. Sounds strange, but once wet, the oats make a milky substance that gently cleans and really soothes the skin.
(Even cheap liquid soap can be improved by adding honey to it. A 50/50 combination can produce an acceptable hand wash, with antibacterial qualities thanks to the honey.)
Other Irritants
Be careful, some nappy wipes can cause rashes! If your little one is very prone to rashes or skin break outs, please do not use any kind of commercial nappy wipe.
